Chinese Name: Ban Xia
Comman Name: Pinellia Rhizome
Latin Name: Pinellia ternata Breit
Raw Ban Xia is very toxic. Zhi Ban Xia is roasted Ban Xia (Pinellia Rhizome) which has mild toxic.
It is pungent, warm and toxic. It acts on the lung, Spleen and Stomach channels.
WHY IT'S USED: It displerses accumulation of Heat and phlegm with a full sensation
resting in the epigastrium, abdomen, chest and diaphragm. It treats coughing with dysapnoea,
pain and hard stagnation of Qi in the epigastrium, and vomiting, and nausea due to attack of epidemic
disease. It dissolves carbuncle and swelling. It promotes abortion.
COMMENTS AND CAUTIONS:
Do not use in cases with dry cough or bleeding caused by Yin Deficiency.
Do not in Hot Phlegm conditions.
Ban Xia is incompatible with Wou Tou.
Caution with pregnancy.
Dosage: 5 to 9 grams per day
