Chinese Name: Da Zao /Hong Zao
Comman Name: Fructus Zizyphi Jujubae
Latin Name:Ziziphus Jujuba
It is warm , sweet and nontoxic.
It acts on spleen and stomach channels. Da Zao is black and Hong zao is red .
They are from the same fruit, but prepared in different way. Da Zao is smoked, but Hong Zao is not smoked.
WHY IT'S USED: It nourishs blood and calm the mind for insomnia and restlessness;
tonifies the spleen and stomach with poor appetite and promotes secretions of vital fluids;
moderates the toxicity of potent drugs.
It is best for fatigue, hypertension, physical exhaustion and malnutrition.
COMMENTS AND CAUTIONS:
It may cause heat, dampness and phlegm.
Do not use large amount if digestion is bad. Otherwise it creates flatulence, indigestion,
promotes parasites, bad teeth.
Dosage: 10 to 30 grams per day( 3-12 Fruits)
