Magnolia flower has pungent and warm properties, and is associated with the Lung and Stomach meridians.
WHY IT'S USED: Magnolia flower is typically used to treat nasal conditions,
such as stuffy nose, nasal obstructions, congestion,
and sinus headaches. An ointment of magnolia flower can also be applied to the skin. It lowers blood pressure,
stimulates uterus and inhibits fungi.
The essential oil possesses anti-inflammatory effect.
Dosage: 3 - 9 grams, boiled in water as a decoction.
Larger amounts can be applied to the skin as necessary.
Cautions & Contraindications:
Magnolia flower has very little toxin and can be consumed safely when administered in the proper dosage,
but it should not be taken by people with Qi-energy deficieny, Yin deficiency or blood deficiency with heat signs.
Large amounts may cause dizziness and redness of the eyes. So far, there are no known drug interactions associated with magnolia.
